J.K. Rowling's five-film Fantastic Beasts adventure series continues with the original screenplay for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

At the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured in New York with the help of Newt Scamander. The Mystery of Three Quarters is a work of detective fiction by Sophie Hannah. It is the third in her series of Hercule Poirot novels, after being authorised by the estate of Agatha Christie to write new stories for the character.

When we first met them in Who Moved My Cheese?, two mouse-sized characters named Hem and Haw were faced with unexpected change, when the Cheese they loved suddenly disappeared. Haw learned how to deal with that change successfully by setting off in search of New Cheese. But Hem remained stuck where he was.

Now Out of the Maze reveals what Hem did next--and how his discoveries can help you unlock the riddle of whatever mazes you may face yourself. When you follow Hem and his new friend, Hope, on their new journey, you'll discover how to get more out of life by thinking outside the box. Or, in this case, outside the Maze.

Stephen Hawking was recognized as one of the greatest minds of our time and a figure of inspiration after defying his ALS diagnosis at age twenty-one. He is known for both his breakthroughs in theoretical physics as well as his ability to make complex concepts accessible for all, and was beloved for his mischievous sense of humor. At the time of his death, Hawking was working on a final project: a book compiling his answers to the "big" questions that he was so often posed--questions that ranged beyond his academic field.

Within these pages, he provides his personal views on our biggest challenges as a human race, and where we, as a planet, are heading next. Each section will be introduced by a leading thinker offering his or her own insight into Professor Hawking's contribution to our understanding.

With a final twist that will shock even his most ardent listeners, Heads You Win is #1 New York Times bestseller Jeffrey Archer’s most ambitious and creative work since Kane and Abel.

Leningrad, Russia, 1968. Alexander Karpenko is no ordinary child, and from an early age, it is clear he is destined to lead his countrymen. But when his father is assassinated by the KGB for defying the state, he and his mother will have to escape from Russia if they hope to survive. At the docks, they are confronted with an irreversible choice: should they board a container ship bound for America, or Great Britain? Alexander leaves that choice to the toss of a coin . . .

In a single moment, a double twist decides Alexander’s future. During an epic tale of fate and fortune, spanning two continents and thirty years, we follow his triumphs and defeats as he struggles as an immigrant to conquer his new world. As this unique story unfolds, Alexander comes to realize where his destiny lies, and accepts that he must face the past he left behind in Russia.

Aelin has risked everything to save her people-but at a tremendous cost. Locked within an iron coffin by the Queen of the Fae, Aelin must draw upon her fiery will as she endures months of torture. Aware that yielding to Maeve will doom those she loves keeps her from breaking, though her resolve begins to unravel with each passing day…

With Aelin captured, Aedion and Lysandra remain the last line of defense to protect Terrasen from utter destruction. Yet they soon realize that the many allies they've gathered to battle Erawan's hordes might not be enough to save them. Scattered across the continent and racing against time, Chaol, Manon, and Dorian are forced to forge their own paths to meet their fates. Hanging in the balance is any hope of salvation-and a better world.

And across the sea, his companions unwavering beside him, Rowan hunts to find his captured wife and queen-before she is lost to him forever.

As the threads of fate weave together at last, all must fight, if they are to have a chance at a future. Some bonds will grow even deeper, while others will be severed forever in the explosive final chapter of the Throne of Glass series.

In Sky Hawkins's family, leading your first heist is a major milestone -- even more so than learning to talk, walk, or do long division. It's a chance to gain power and acceptance within your family, and within society. But stealing your first treasure can be complicated, especially when you're a wyvern -- a human capable of turning into a dragon.

Embarking on a life of crime is never easy, and Sky discovers secrets about her mother, who recently went missing, the real reason her boyfriend broke up with her, and a valuable jewel that could restore her family's wealth and rank in their community.

With a handpicked crew by her side, Sky knows she has everything she needs to complete her first heist, and get her boyfriend and mother back in the process. But then she uncovers a dark truth about were-dragon society -- a truth more valuable and dangerous than gold or jewels could ever be.

From the start of his glittering career in 1992, to his official retirement from all formats of the game in 2013, Shane Warne has long desired to tell his incredible story without compromise. No Spin is that very story. It will offer a compelling intimate voice, true insight and a pitch-side seat to one of cricket’s finest eras, making this one of the ultimate must-have sports autobiographies.

As a matter of fact,' he went on to say, 'I believe in vampires myself.'
'You do?' I felt the hair on the back of my neck commence to irritate. It is one thing to write about a horror, but quite another to begin to see it assume definite shape. 'Yes,' said Father R - . 'I am forced to believe in vampires for the very good but terrible reason that I have met one!'
Tales of vampires, ghouls, werewolves and spirits rub shoulders with shikar stories and thrillers from all over the world in this eclectic collection. Selected by Ruskin Bond, these are stories by Bram Stoker, Sydney Horler, Alice Perrin, Rudyard Kipling, Arthur Conan Doyle, Saki, and Amelia Edwards, and many others.
Read about a precarious journey in a haunted coach; a seemingly supernatural man-eater; Sherlock Holmes investigating a locked room mystery; and an Englishman who spends a night of horror in a long-deserted village before traveling on to Transylvania as the guest of Count Dracula.

Tombland is a historical mystery novel by British author C. J. Sansom. It is the seventh entry in the Matthew Shardlake Series, following 2014's Lamentation. Set in the summer of 1549, the story deals with the investigation of a murder in Norfolk. Matthew Shardlake is entrusted by Elizabeth I to investigate the murder of the wife of a distant relative of hers. During the course of the investigation Shardlake gets involved in the Kett's Rebellion.

Gandhi lived one of the great 20th-century lives. He inspired and enraged, challenged and delighted millions of men and women around the world. He lived almost entirely in the shadow of the British Raj, which for much of his life seemed a permanent fact, but which he did more than anyone else to bring down. In a world defined by violence and warfare and by fascist and communist dictatorships, he was armed with nothing more than his arguments and example. While fighting for national freedom, he also attacked caste and gender hierarchies, and fought (and died) for inter-religious harmony.

This magnificent book tells the story of Gandhi's life from his departure from South Africa to his dramatic assassination in 1948. It has a Tolstoyan sweep, showing us Gandhi as he was understood by his contemporaries, with new readings of his arguments with (among others) Ambedkar, Jinnah, and Churchill, and new insights on our freedom movement and its many strands. Drawing on never-before-seen sources and animated by its author's wonderful sense of drama and politics, Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World is the most ambitious book on the father of the nation.

In the book, Tharoor examines and questions the tenure of the Modi government. He states that his criticisms are based on "facts and figures", along with examples.[5] Tharoor claims that he questions "the foreign policy, relationships in the neighbourhood, the priorities, the episodic nature of much of our foreign policy conduct, the inconsistent yo-yoing of [the] relationship with Pakistan, etc., etc." of Modi's tenure.[5] The book was published by Aleph Book Company

5 Reasons to Start Reading Comic Books

#1: Comic Books Help People Learn to Love Reading

To improve their reading skills, new readers can benefit from the visual format of comic books and graphic novels. With their intense visuals and focus on plot and characters, comic books can be much more engaging than other literary media, such as novels or short stories.

#2: Comic Books Help Us Think Differently

According to University of Windsor English professor Dale Jacobs (2007), comic books require readers to create meaning using "multiple modalities." Readers of comic books must process all the different components—visual, spatial, and textual—of what they are reading and integrate these components into one solid understanding of the story. This means that, even though comic books may appeal to readers for the same reason these individuals are drawn to other forms of entertainment, such as television and video games, reading these books actually involves much more complex processing.

#3: Stories May Be Good for Your Brain

Neuroscientific research by Berns, Blaine, Prietula, and Pye (2013) indicates that reading stories actually has a noticeable effect on brain function. This study showed how reading a compelling novel changed participants' neuron activity not only while they were reading but also for several days after they finished the novel that was assigned to them. Stories can actually change the ways in which our brains function and the ways in which we think

#4: Comic Books Are Cool

Superheroes are cool. And where do superheroes originate from? Comic books. If you enjoy big superhero blockbusters, such as The Avengers or The Dark Knight, there's no reason you won't enjoy the stories from whence these adaptations came.

#5: Comic Books Are More than Just Superhero Stories

There are also tons of great graphic novels and graphic nonfiction books out there, such as Alison Bechdel's autobiography, Fun Home; Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis; and many more. Many of these stories, just like your favorite books, explore weighty themes and feelings. The visual nature of graphic novels allows you, as the reader, to experience these themes in different ways than you do when reading a traditional book

Tips to create interest in Reading

1. Create a reading space
Make a reading area or fort where you can read and relax on your own. Add blankets, pillows, and a variety of books, and you will have a reading corner where you can read a book whenever the urge to read hits.
2. Start a series
Book series are a great way to keep child’s interest in reading high and eliminate the problem of figuring out what to read next. Another option is reading multiple, non-series books written by the same author.
3. Have “reading hour”
Each day, schedule reading time for yourself to sit down and read a chapter of a book. During this time, talk and discuss with you brother or sisiter or parents what is happening in the book, what is your favourite part was, and what you thinks will happen next.

Choose a Book according to your Lexile level.

World Book & Copyright Day

23rd April 2020

MRIS 46 Library

World Book Day, also known as World Book and Copyright Day, or International Day of the Book, is an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote readingpublishing, and copyright. World Book Day was first celebrated on 23 April 1995, and continues to be recognized on that day.

Date selection Fact

The original idea was of the Valencian writer Vicente Clavel Andrés as a way to honour the author Miguel de Cervantes, first on 7 October, his birth date, then on 23 April, his death date. In 1995 UNESCO decided that the World Book and Copyright Day would be celebrated on 23 April, as the date is also the anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, as well as that of the birth or death of several other prominent authors. (In a historical coincidence, Shakespeare and Cervantes died on the same date — 23 April 1616 — but not on the same day, as at the time, Spain used the Gregorian calendar and England used the Julian calendar; Shakespeare actually died 10 days after Cervantes died, on 3 May of the Gregorian calendar).

“Books open your mind, broaden your mind, and strengthen you as nothing else can.” -William Feather

As a part of weeklong Mother’s Day celebration, MRIS 46 Library in association with Westland publications had organized an online author talk session on May 5, 2020 for young readers of grade 7.  Ms Anita Roy, a mother, an author, an editor joined the session on MS Teams from Southwest England. She had introduced her book Gravepyres School for Recently Deceased. To encourage the skills of listening and reading, she read some chapters of her novel and had shared some pictures of journey of making of the story followed by question answer session.

Ms Anita continues to talk to the students about what she was like as a teenager, her career path and life as an author, she exudes enthusiasm, passion and sincerity. Although this is undoubtedly a special opportunity for students, it seems at the same time this is just as special session for Ms. Anita Roy too.

Gravepyres School for the Recently Deceased is a gorgeous debut Young Adult fantasy novel by Anita Roy. Through engaging discussion sessions, participants enhanced their critical thinking skills, self-esteem and ability to express themselves.
